The American singer Lady Gaga, found in Japan to participate in a benefit concert,
has encouraged tourists to visit this country after the
earthquake and tsunami that devastated the country past Japan 11
March.
“I would use my position to tour Tokyo and enjoy the
beautiful city and scream at the top of my lungs that everyone should
visit this beautiful place”, the pop superstar said in a press conference, in which he appeared, drinking from a cup that said “Prayers
for Japan”.
The pop diva has helped raise funds for victims of this
disaster, contributing a song to a charity album with a message
for a shirt that will go on sale this week.
Visibly
moved, Lady Gaga received a letter of gratitude from the
Japanese Government. Hiroshi Mizohata,
head of the Japan Tourism Agency, gave her a small doll that symbolizes perseverance and
courage.
“Never surrender, standing at
the end. This is a traditional Japanese doll for you. This is Fukushima”, said
an excited Mizohata, noting that the doll came from Fukushima Prefecture,
where a nuclear plant has caused a crisis shattered
atomic.
Lady Gaga responded with a kiss on her cheek. “I'm
happy”, he said. Although there was speculation that Lady Gaga visit the
devastated region of northeastern Japan after the MTV benefit concert
on Saturday, Star avoided making specific promises.
