Heavy Metal Lover by Lady Gaga voted the Best Song of 2011

Much like our Fave Albums of the Year (So Far) poll, our look at the Best Song of 2011 (So Far) was dominated by two divas: Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. Spears and Gaga both found themselves ranked comfortably on MTV News’ mid-year countdown of songs, landing at Nos. 3 and 2, respectively, with “Till the World Ends” and “Heavy Metal Lover.”

In the last 24 hours, fans of both ladies went into overdrive, pushing the songs to the top of our poll by a, um, wide margin. By wide, we actually mean Grand Canyon enormous. “World Ends” and “Lover” accounted for nearly 98 percent of the vote (seriously).
