Chris Martin: Lady Gaga is a better songwriter than me

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has spoken of his admiration for Lady Gaga - saying that she is a much better songwriter than him.

Chris - who performed along with the rest of Coldplay on last night's X Factor final at Wembley Arena - said that he was very impressed by the chart-topping singer after meeting her backstage at last month's Children In Need Rocks concert in Manchester.

'She's very sweet,' he told The Sun just before taking to the X Factor stage.'I think what undercuts it all, is that she's talented and she writes everything.

'I just admire all of the hats and the dresses and the madness and everything because I know that underneath it all she can beat me at writing choruses.'

The band - who recently released their fifth album Mylo Xyloto - played a charity gig at the O2 on Saturday night, which saw them joined on stage by Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

However actor Simon Pegg, who has been a regular guest at Coldplay concerts, did not turn up.

'Simon was invited by he was on a plane with Tom Cruise doing Mission Impossible 4 so he said no,' Chris explained. 'He said, 'I'm better than that now''.
