The Lady Gaga "You and I" sex scene has been causing a stir because, well, it's not really a sex scene.
In her exclusive MTV special, MTV First: Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga explained the purpose of the "sex scene" Yuyi (who is a mermaid) and a muscular mad scientist (who is human) to a curious fan, according to MTV.com. Surely, a number of fans were confused by the video's plot.
"Well, that's actually part of what the metaphor is --[they] can't [have sex]. Sometimes in love, you can't make it work. No matter what you do, there's this giant boundary between you and someone else," Gaga told Sway, her interviewer. "So that's what it's about: perceiving in your imagination that there's something magical inside of you, that you can make it work."
The video was really personal for Gaga because the song was about a real-life former love.
lady gaga @rome"For me, it was all about capturing the true spirit of the song, which is when you're in love, you'll be able to walk, and do the craziest and most inconvenient things you can possibly imagine," Gaga said to her fans in the former TRL studio.
The Lady Gaga "You and I" sex scene is definitely a critical part of the Mother Monster's video, and certainly displays the thoughtfulness she puts into her work. Hopefully, her hard work will pay off and win her those four VMA awards for which she's nominated.
